The Purpose of This Blog

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with depression.  It was my belief that life had thrown me a few curveballs however labeling it with depression was unwarranted.

A few months later, I found myself in bed for days with no reason or desire of getting up.  I wasn’t ill; I just didn’t see any purpose of getting out of bed.

Depression was staring me in the face.  There was no denying of it.

After doing some research, I started behavioral therapy. My counselor gave me tips and tools on how to deal with my depression. Dealing with depression and finding the way back to a healthy productive life is a long journey for some it’s a journey of a life time. This blog is my journey. It may take 101 days, it may take 1001 days or it may take me a life time.

This reminds me of one of Virgil’s most famous lines “Easy is the descent to Avernus, that is, the road down to hell is no effort.”  Getting back is the tricky part I suppose, remember Orpheus.

Isn’t depression much like a journey to hell and back?

  1. Embrace your journey, live in the moment and think not of yesterday or tomorrow. If you have to think ahead of time, make it no more than 5 hours ahead of NOW. 🙂 Nature, healthy foods, arts and philosophy, spirituality are great ways of overcoming those downers! Be blessed. 🙂

  2. Will pray for you as you travel through this journey. Praying it will be a short journey and that you have a lot of people who will help you.

You are helping other people by sharing your experiences. All God’s best to you.
